The U.S. Senate Finance Committee has narrowly approved moving former Southwest Missouri Congressman and former KWTO radio host Billy Long’s nomination to be IRS Commissioner to a vote by the full Senate.

The vote was 14-13 along party lines.

Five people have served as IRS commissioner since the beginning of this year.

A date for the full Senate vote on Long’s nomination has not yet been set.

Long testified in front of the Finance Committee on May 20th.

He was picked by President Trump back in December to lead the IRS.
