Strong to severe thunderstorms are expected in parts of the Ozarks Friday afternoon into Friday night.

The National Weather Service says the severe risk is higher in the far eastern Ozarks, which is in a Level 3 “enhanced risk.”

Areas east of Highway 65 are under a Level 2 “slight risk,” while Springfield and areas just west of the metro have a level 1 “marginal risk” for severe storms.

Even when there aren’t thunderstorms in the area on Friday, it will be very windy outside, with potentially damaging wind gusts of 50 to 60 plus miles per hour.
