UPDATE: Three of Four Lanes Re-opened After Sinkhole Closes Part of James River Freeway

UPDATE: 5:30 p.m. Friday: Three of the four westbound lanes have re-opened on James River Freeway between Highway 65 and Glenstone in Springfield.

UPDATE: 2:30 p.m. Friday–Westbound James River Freeway remains closed between Highway 65 and the Glenstone Avenue exit in Springfield as crews work to repair a sinkhole that has opened up under the westbound Highway 60 lanes.

In addition to all westbound lanes being closed, westbound James River Freeway to the northbound Glenstone Avenue exit is closed, along with north and southbound Highway 65 to westbound James River Freeway.

Original Story: A sinkhole has closed a portion of the James River Freeway.

MODOT crews are making repairs to the sinkhole which opened under the westbound lanes of Highway 60 between Highway 65 exit and the Glenstone Avenue exit.

This portion of the James River Freeway will be closed until further notice.

MODOT suggests drivers find another route.
