Springfield City Council has approved creating a Citizens’ Advisory Board, which will be charged with providing a recommendation to council on funding projects consistent with the city’s comprehensive plan.
It’s all part of the 1/2 cent portion of a 3/4 cent sales tax approved by voters in November.
The remaining 1/4 cent of that tax is dedicated to police and firefighter pensions and competitive pay.
The Citizens’ Advisory Board will be made up of between seven and 11 members appointed by city council for a term of three years.
In the event a person fails to serve a full three-year term, the successor would be appointed for the unexpired term.
If you’re interested in applying, you need to complete an application/questionnaire. Those submitting an earlier application of interest will receive an e-mail, prompting them to complete the full questionnaire.
