The Springfield community is mourning the death of Roseann Bentley. She was 89 years old.
Roseann served the community for decades, beginning in the Junior League of Springfield.
Her work with the Junior League led to the establishment of Springfield’s first public television station in the ’70s.
Bentley then became an advocate for education, serving as president of the Springfield School Board, the Missouri State Board of Education, and the National Association of State Boards of Education.
Roseann later served through her work as a Missouri State Senator, representing the 30th District from 1995 until 2003, and then serving 12 years on the Greene County Commission.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John Bentley, who passed away in March of 2023.
