A man from Springfield accused of murder is now facing additional charges for allegedly assaulting his mother and girlfriend.
Investigators say Jacob DeJong murdered a 74-year-old man in December of 2021, but was released on bond.
He was arrested last week following to domestic violence incidents.
Prosecutors say DeJong choked his mother on December 1 after she supposedly hid alcohol from him.
A few days later, he allegedly got into an argument with his girlfriend, kicked her in the stomach, causing her to fall off the bed.
DeJong’s girlfriend is pregnant, according to police.
He is being held in the Christian County Jail on the domestic abuse charges. His trial for second-degree murder is scheduled for April of 2024.
