Stone County Group Trying to Create an Ambulance District

A group in Stone County is trying to get an ambulance district created.

The county is in danger of losing ambulance services. Cox Health and Mercy provide ambulance services in the county, but each is reportedly losing about 500 thousand dollars a year.

The group needs to get more than 1800 signatures from county residents to start the process of creating an ambulance district.

The group wants to get a half cent sales tax in the county to help fund ambulance service.
