The Springfield Fire Department says a 13-year-old girl has died from injuries suffered in a house fire on March 19th.
Firefighters found the victim inside the home in the 300 block of south New Avenue during search-and-rescue operations.
When crews arrived, there were heavy smoke conditions at the house.
The teenager was rushed to a local hospital, where she later died.
The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
This is the second fire fatality in Springfield in 2025.
