A 19-year-old teenager from Springfield will spend the next several years in prison for his role in an armed robbery at a Kum & Go last year.
Prosecutors say Quinton Jones went to the convenience store along Division Street near Packer Road in Springfield in May of 2023 with a mask on. He was also in possession of a shotgun.
Witnesses at the gas station reported that he demanded money, and then fled the store in a vehicle, which was later found wrecked and abandoned.
Days after the robbery, police say they responded to a domestic assault at a home in Springfield, where Jones was involved and bragging about a robbery he had committed.
Earlier this week, Jones pleaded guilty to first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. He was sentenced to 11 years and 3 years respectively for each charge, but the sentences will be served concurrently.
