Three-Car Crash at Grand and West Bypass in Springfield Kills One, Injures Two Others

One person is dead, and two others are hospitalized following a three-car crash at the intersection of West Bypass and Grand in Springfield.

Investigators say the crash happened early Thursday morning at around 8:30am, when two vehicles collided in the intersection, while a third vehicle became involved after failing to avoid the initial crash.

The driver of one of the vehicles was pronounced dead at the scene, while two others involved were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Officers with the Springfield Police Department say the crash closed two lanes along each street at the intersection with the investigation into the crash was conducted, and crews worked to clear debris from the scene.

The intersection was opened up shortly thereafter.
