Trial of Man Accused in Stabbing Death of MSU Professor Begins

The first-degree murder trial of a man accused of killing a retired Missouri State University professor started Monday.

Edward Gutting is accused of stabbing Marc Cooper and attacking his wife in their Springfield home in 2016.

The judge heard opening statements in the case.

Also taking the stand was Cooper’s wife, Nancy, and the Springfield Police officers who arrived first at the Cooper home.
