Branson police are warning residents to be aware of a scam involving unexpected deliveries.
Police say the scam involves people receiving small gifts in the mail addressed to them, but not containing any information about the sender. Police say a QR code may be included in the box, prompting the recipient to scan the code to get information about the sender.
Scanning the QR code could give the scammers access to data on the recipient’s phone. Police say if you get such a package, you can keep the item or throw it away, but don’t scan the QR code.
