A woman from Marshfield is now awaiting sentencing after pleading guilty to charges in connection with the shooting and killing of her boyfriend.

Marshfield Police say 23-year-old Madison Rueckert shot and killed her boyfriend, Jonathan Miller, on New Year’s Eve in 2022.

After shooting Miller, investigators say Rueckert called police and confessed, then got in her SUV and drove to Dallas County before surrendering to law enforcement.

A handgun matching the one used in the shooting was found in her vehicle. When interrogated by authorities, Rueckert said she was angered after she found text messages between Miller and other women on his cell phone.

She was initially charged with first-degree murder in the case, but pleaded guilty to one count of attempted second-degree murder as well as armed criminal action.

Rueckert’s sentencing hearing has been scheduled for December 4.
