Woman from Springfield Found Guilty in Road Rage Incident

A woman from Springfield has been found guilty by a jury in a road rage incident that led to a woman’s death.

Elizabeth McKeown was found guilty Friday to charges of first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of Barbara Foster.

McKeown instigated a road rage incident in November of 2018 at the corner of Sunshine and Campbell, when McKeown admitted that she rear-ended Foster because she was driving too slowly.

Following the accident, investigators say Foster got out her car to check the damages, then McKeown ran her over.

Defense attorneys argued that cough medicine that she was taking was the cause of the incident, saying the medicine induced a psychotic episode.

McKeown is set to be sentenced on September 2. Her defense said they intend to appeal for a new trial.
