CDC Classifies Greene County as “High” for COVID-19 Transmission

In an update of the Centers for Disease Control’s “COVID Data Tracker”, Greene County has now been listed as high risk for transmission of the virus.

The Springfield-Greene County Health Department currently reports that there are 73 active cases of COVID-19 in the area, with 40 of those patients being hospitalized. Ten of those hospitalized patients are in critical care.

SGCHD says the latest statistics on COVID-19 in Greene County will be updated later today.

With the re-classification of Greene County from a medium to high risk area, the CDC recommends that residents wear a mask in public and on forms of public transportation. The government entity also recommends staying up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations, and to get tested if symptoms begin to show.

Along with Greene County; Polk, Dade and Wright counties have also been listed as high risk for transmission of COVID-19 in the Ozarks.
