Polk County Firefighters Asking Public for Tax Increase

Central Polk County firefighters have been going door to door to convince voters to approve a tax increase to help the fire department.

Two previous tax increase measures failed at the ballot box.

Battalion Chief Tom Morris says money from the 30 cent levy increase would be used to upgrade equipment and fire stations and hire full time staff.

The vote on the levy will be held on August 8th.
